Permanent
Home for Eagle
Liberty, a bald eagle featured in a previous newsletter, has
found a permanent placement as an education bird with an Ohio
falconer/rehabilitator. We are sorry to see Liberty go after over
two years at Tamarack, but pleased that she has found a home nearby.
This bald eagle arrived at Tamarack having suffered a gunshot
wound that resulted in permanent blindness in one eye making her
survival in the wild unlikely.
With the support of the local offices of the State Gamed Commission,
we pursued the possibility of keeping and training Liberty ourselves.
But current federal regulations are creating barriers to otherwise
qualified organizations such s our own. As a result, placing disabled
eagles is becoming increasingly difficult. These regulations are
currently under review for change and clarification.
