Quick Thinking by a 9 Year
Old - Saves Turkeys

Nine year old Abigail Hayden was riding with her mother when they accidentally ran over a turkey nest with six eggs. Two of the eggs were cracked open, the other four seemed fine. Abigail felt she had to help these eggs. She quickly grabbed a pail, put a soft cloth in the bottom, and gently picked the eggs up and placed them in the cloth. She then covered them.

As Abigail attempted to find help, she thought he eggs would get cold before someone from Tamarack wildlife could be contacted.

She thought since the mother turkey sat on the eggs to keep them warm, she could do the same. So she sat on the pail hoping her heat would keep them warm.

Abigail did a wonderful job. After a week and a half in an incubator, four baby turkeys hatched (1 boy 3 girls).
