Volunteers -The Search Continues
We know there are more members out there with good intentions, who just haven't gotten around to contacting us about ways to volunteer.
Maybe you thought that someone else would call. Since our last newsletter article detailing the many ways we could use help, we are
pleased to report that we have filled the position of Corresponding Secretary (Hooray Lynn!). But we didn't hear from many of you.
Under the supervision of Sue DeArment,Amy Albright, Nancy Thall,, our college students (interns, Davies and Bonner Leaders, work study
and volunteer) and now Carole Holmgren, take care of the bulk of daily chores around the Center. However, student schedules mean that
we're often short-handed during breaks, exam times, and at the start of the semester, And our student help is usually short; often just for
a semester. If we're lucky, a student will continue work with us for a few years. The months of August and September can be especially
challenging since we're often without student help during our busiest time for birds of prey.
So if you were thinking about it, but didn't call --- we still need your help. Positions available include:
Wildlife Care, Education Program Assistants, Transporters, Volunteer Coordinator, Fundraising Coordinator, Satellite Rehabber, Skilled
Craftspeople/handyman for occasional repairs, Other.
We're looking for a few willing hands to help with a spaghetti dinner fundraiser this fall. You can spend an afternoon helping prep food
and/or an evening serving dinners or helping in the kitchen. The work isn't glamorous, but we'll keep you busy for a few hours with a great
group of volunteers!
